Our Final Weeks on Maui
We said see you later to our friends on Maui as we finished our projects and final weeks there. Our future in the pacific has come from having Maui as a spring board towards our dreams. It is a magical place where dreams can become tangible...just like the baby that grows in My's belly was a hope, a wish, and now he has become our future.
Holy Ghost Church - Kula, HI
(with our second generation sunflowers, they had so many blossoms that they weighed down the stocks!)
Why did the chicken cross the road?
So we wouldn't fry him up and eat him for waking us up every morning at 3:30 am.
After the Holy Ghost Church feast there was one rooster who decided he wanted to stay at the church after his owners went home. He let us know he was there by crowing very early each day right next to our ohana window. Needless to say we only tolerated this for a few days before we took actions to relocate our feathered friend to a park several miles away. Picture this if you can... its 4:00 am there is a man with a cardboard box frantically chasing a rooster through a church parking lot. The idea was to put the box over him and then fold it closed, but every time I tossed the box, the rooster bolted and evaded it. This went on for about 10 minutes... Finally with both of us tired he cornered himself and the box was gently placed over the top of him and the edges were folded in. He was placed in the back of a truck and driven to his new home.

The project was challenging at times but it was worth it. Planning, working, and executing was very fulfilling and things came together as we went along. This will not be the last system that we build. It was however the first. We learned a lot of things while doing this project. It was sometimes improvised but never off track. This is a successful functioning prototype; it was a hybrid of industry and art. We had lots of help and encouragement from the fine folks who will enjoy the system after we are gone.
The good friends we left behind on Maui.
It was difficult to leave to our good friends that we met while we lived in Maui. But we always say there is no goodbye, only see you later.
