1 Week Old

He's already smiling, frowning, laughing and expressing a full range of emotions.
He's sleeping very well and has a good appetite, this boy can eat.
We couldn't have asked for a better baby.
We love you so much Jakob!

Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas from Our Family to Yours
We hope you all had a Merry Christmas and that this holiday season brings you all that your hearts dream, hope, and desire. We were blessed with the BEST Christmas gift one could ever hope for. May God Bless you all this Holiday and in the New Year to come.

Welcome to the World Baby Jakob

This year has truly blessed us beyond measure as we welcome to the world our long awaited miracle, Baby Jakob.

We planned to have a natural labor and delivery with Jakob, but things did not go as planned. Jakob had plans of his own. He decided that he wanted to stay in mommy's tummy just a bit longer and grow just a bit bigger. Finally, at 41 weeks + 4 days, he decided it was time to make his appearance. After 12 hours of labor at Sagua Managua Birthing Center, no progress was being made; baby's heart rate was dipping and with meconium present in the amniotic fluid we were forced to make the decision to be transferred to Guam Memorial Hospital to deliver Jakob via C-Section. Despite the complications and finding out he was wrapped up in his umbilical cord, we delivered a healthy, strong, beautiful, perfect baby boy.

Hafa Adai from Guam!

Hafa Adai from Guam!  We made it safely and have been settling in to our new island home.  When we got here the island was just recovering from a typhoon, but the clouds quickly moved away and the weather turned sunny and beautiful.  We have been staying at a very nice condo in the heart of the tourist district of Tumon Bay.

My roughing it in the condo.

We got a new car that is perfect for the island, a 2014 Kia Soul.  It is like a mini suv and will be great for our small growing family.  We bought it at Triple J on Marine Corps Drive from a nice sales rep named Marvin.

Now, what you have been waiting to see...  GUAM!

The southern topography, beautiful.
A panoramic of the ranges.

Coconuts grow everywhere here, in yards, along the roads, and they sprout where they fall.

Some of the local Flora and Fauna

A tiny hermit crab that outgrew its shell and was searching for a new one.

Making new friends...

Students visiting from Taiwan who stayed with us.
Hanging out at the beach.
We cooked each other dinner; they tried American food and we tried Taiwanese food.

Yum!

We visited the Governors mansion; it is a beautiful property.

The property includes the Latte of Freedom.
The Latte of Freedom

A nice fishing exhibit at the cultural center of the governors mansion; it made me hungry for Sashimi.

Cannons facing the sea.

My facing the cannons.

We decided to drive around the island to acquaint ourselves with our new home.  As promised here are some of the neat things that we came across while driving around the southern tip of the island.

A beautiful bridge here on the island.

Dome homes towards the southern tip of the island.

A beautiful mural painted at a roundabout.
The shipping container McDonalds.  Very unique.

We have been settling in and have taken more photos.  We will increase our postings as we become more familiar with the island and get a chance to meet more people and do more things here.  If you have any suggestions of things you would like to see or are curious about please comment and we will go check it out and take pictures!
